Events: Scrapheap Challenge

We had a fantastic afternoon building and racing cars in the school hall but it was noticeable that the event was rather male dominated ..... but then cars aren't for everybody.

Each team were given the same 'rubbish' and 2hrs to build a 'powered' car. Bottle tops, BBQ skewers, straws, balloons, elastic bands and cereal boxes were just some of the things used and it was amazing how many different designs were produced.

After the construction time was over each team had 2 runs, with and without a ramp to assist, and the sum of the distances travelled gave us the winner. The traditional laurel wreath and champagne were handed to the overall winner.
